Police protected and escorted the Israeli supporters to their hotel, and 57 people were arrested. The clashes reportedly broke out despite a ban on a pro-Palestinian rally imposed by Amsterdam Mayor Femke Halsema, who had feared clashes would break out between protesters and supporters of the Israeli soccer club.
